Callan Marine’s Marine Construction Division Commences Work on Beaumont Community Park

GALVESTON, TX – April 14, 2023 – Callan Marine and the City of Beaumont celebrated the Riverfront Park groundbreaking on April 12, 2023. More than five years after Hurricane Harvey shuttered the facility, officials stated that Riverfront Park is on the road to restoration and Callan Marine’s Marine Construction Division will restore the park's pavilion, picnic tables, benches, boat dock, and walking path.

February 21, 2024 – Callan Marine ceremoniously added a new 32-inch cutter suction dredge to its fleet, the 32” cutter suction dredge General Arnold. The General Arnold was christened in Corpus Christi, Texas, on February 20, 2024, and will immediately begin work on Phase Four of the Corpus Christi Ship Channel Improvement Project. The project will beneficially re-use 100% of the dredged material removed from the channel deepening and widening.

The General Arnold is the newest, largest, and most environmentally friendly dredge in the US fleet. The dredge features four EPA Tier 4 engines, developing a combined 24,000 horsepower and utilizing exhaust gas recirculation technology to reduce emissions to sub-Tier 4 levels. The General Arnold is 290 feet long, 72 feet wide, has a maximum digging depth of 97 feet, and employs state-of-the-art production automation and monitoring systems.

Callan Marine SETS HOUSE ON 32” CSD GENERAL ARNOLD

General Arnold Construction on Track for Q4 2022 Launch

GALVESTON, TX – August 1, 2022 – Callan Marine recently launched the hull and set the house on the 32” cutter suction dredge General Arnold. The General Arnold is on schedule for launch in 2022 and will join Callan Marine’s additional 32” CSD, General MacArthur.

At 290’ feet in length and 72’ feet wide, The General Arnold will have a maximum digging depth of 97’ feet and a dredge pipe diameter of 32” inches. Under construction at C&C Shipyard in Belle Chasse, LA, the diesel-electric driven General Arnold will boast 24,000 horsepower. It will also feature advanced production automation and monitoring systems.

General Bradley Joins Callan Marine’s CSD Fleet in Morgan City Ceremony

GALVESTON, TX – May 18, 2022 – Callan Marine ceremoniously christened its newest fleet asset, the 28” cutter suction dredge named The General Bradley in Morgan City, Louisiana this Tuesday, May 17, 2022. The General Bradley will immediately commence work at the Port Bolivar Ferry Landing for the Texas Department of Transportation.

At an impressive 341’ feet in length and 54’ feet wide, The General Bradley will have a maximum digging depth of 60 feet and a dredge pipe diameter of 28” inches. Constructed at the Halimar Shipyard in Morgan City, LA, the diesel-electric driven General Bradley will be equipped with three ABC 12DZC engines that supply 9,260 horsepower combined. It will also feature advanced production automation and monitoring systems.

October 9, 2024 – Callan Marine, alongside Nueces County officials and the residents of Corpus Christi, proudly celebrated the groundbreaking of the Bob Hall Pier Rebuild Project on Monday, October 7, 2024.

After Hurricane Hanna delivered a devastating blow in 2020, Nueces County officials committed to rebuilding the Bob Hall Pier. The long-awaited groundbreaking follows three years of project negotiations, public input gathering, and discussion on the design that was presented to the commissioners, and Callan Marine, Ltd. was awarded the bid to construct the new pier in May, with the county’s overall budget for the project being $28.5M.

The new pier will be over 1,200 feet long, and 20 feet wide and will include both a ramp and an ADA ramp. It will feature a 50x50 covered structure in the water, and another 50x50 area to the side which will be considered for future use as a third-party concession. “Callan Marine is proud to be a part of the rebirth of such an iconic fishing and surfing spot on the Texas coast,” remarked Greg Harner, Chief Operating Officer - Marine Construction Division. “Our marine construction assets are well equipped to deliver on time and on budget for Nueces County, and we are honored to partner with such great leadership.”

Callan Marine Awarded Packery Channel Restoration Project Contract

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX - October 19, 2021 - Corpus Christi City Council awarded a $12.3 million construction contract to Callan Marine, LTD, for the Packery Channel Restoration project. With this action, Council also accepted and appropriated three Federal Emergency Management Agency- Public Assistance (FEMA - PA) reimbursement grants to fund the project.

CALLAN MARINE PERFORMS MAINTENANCE DREDGING AT BOLIVAR FERRY TERMINAL

General Patton Contracted to Remove 369,000 Cubic Yards of Material as Part of Annual Maintenance Dredging

GALVESTON, TX – July 7, 2021 – Callan Marine is proud to serve as the prime contractor to the Texas Department of Transportation for a maintenance dredging project located at the Bolivar Ferry Terminal. The project consists of the removal of 369,000 cubic yards of material and returning the landings to the required depth of 22’. The dredged material was hydraulically transported via 4,000’ of pipeline to placement area BU-1, located northeast of the dredging location.

The project is anticipated to be complete in mid-July by Callan’s fleet dredge the General Patton. The General Patton is an 18” cutter suction dredge, 140’ in length with 3,000 total installed horsepower.

CALLAN MARINE RELEASES TENDER PACKAGE FOR NATION’S LARGEST TRAILING SUCTION HOPPER DREDGE

Dredge Admiral Nimitz to Lead Nation’s Fleet in Capacity and Speed

GALVESTON, TX – June 21, 2021 – Callan Marine announces the release of the tender package for construction of its latest fleet addition, a trailer suction hopper dredge to be named The Admiral Nimitz.  The Admiral Nimitz will be the nation’s largest capacity trailing suction hopper dredge.

The Admiral Nimitz has an overall length of 422 ft and a breadth of 92’ and has a hopper capacity of 16,000 cubic yards. The Nimitz will be powered diesel-electric, have a maximum draft of 28.8 feet, a maximum dredging depth of 100 feet in the short dredge pipe configuration, and 130 ft in the long dredge pipe configuration. It will accommodate a crew of 28.

CALLAN MARINE ANNOUNCES CONSTRUCTION OF 18” CUTTER SUCTION DREDGE GENERAL MARSHALL

General Marshall Joins Callan Marine’s Premier Brownwater Dredge Fleet

GALVESTON, TX – June 17, 2021 – Callan Marine is proud to announce the construction of its newest dredge, an 18” cutter suction dredge named The General Marshall. The General Marshall will join Callan’s fleet in 2022.

At 194 feet in length and 41 feet wide, the General Marshall will have a maximum digging depth of 60 feet, a dredge pipe diameter of 18 inches, and a 300 horsepower cutter. Manufactured by DSC Dredge in Reserve, Louisiana, it will boast an overall horsepower of 3,005hp.
